Just reading release notes I have missed, and came across this: "The
/admin/session/.../extend
endpoint will now return 204 No Content for new Ory Network projects. Returning 200 with the session body will be deprecated in future versions."
Does this mean there will soon be no way to extend sessions or is there a different API to do this?
b
No that change only applies to the response. Not the actual mechanism. For new projects, the endpoint will no longer return the session, you'll have to manually refetch it after the extension if you need it.
s
ok, I can live with that. I rely on the response having a session cookie with an updated expiry time, would that still be present or would I be better using the cookie from GetSession() endpoint? I suspect it may be present on both but what would be best practice?
b
The response itself will not (and does not) have an updated session cookie, since this is an admin API. You'll get a new cookie the next time the user's browser calls
toSession()
.

ok, Thanks, yes that does make sense.
~Hi, I just read about "Password migration using a web hook", and I would like a little more detail. Once the webhook has run and a hashed password is stored in Kratos is this treated as a completed migration (the webhook never runs for that user again)? Alternatively, if the user tries to login using, what Kratos considers an incorrect password, can kratos re-run the web hook to check if this "incorrect" password is in fact correct on the remote authentication system. I.e. the hash in kratos becomes more of a cache rather than a new point of truth, To expand - I am considering customer requests for a system where their reference for auth remains Active Directory, but they want to allow users to login even if AD is unavailable. However they want Updated passwords to still be migrated to Kratos when passwords change. (Dammed customers and their weird requirements).~
